रास: लास्या: मल्हार: or (Raas Lasya Malhar) is in Sanskrit language. These are one of the most important words in Indian classical dance and music. Rasa or रासः symbolises lit. Juice or ‘essence’ referring generally to the emotions /essence crafted into the dance by the dancers. Nātyasāstra, an ancient Indian text on dance and performing art describes nine rasas or NavaRasas that are the basis of all human emotions. Each one is given below. हास्या (joy) करुणा (grief or compassion) रौद्र (anger) श्रृंगार (beauty) शान्त (peace) वीर (heroism) वीभत्स (disgust) भय ( fear) and अद्भुत (wonder or curiosity) The term लास्या : or Lasya in the context of Hindu mythology, describes the classical dance performed by Goddess Parvati. She have danced the Lasya in response to the male energy of the cosmic dance of Tandava performed by Lord Shiva.
