description
With a lifelong interest in art, music and science, Brendan O'Connor began his career as a tattooer in 2005, when he completed a traditional apprenticeship under Mr Andrew Stephens, in Brisbane's South.
Since then, he has been honoured to receive invitations to work in many diverse domestic and international locations, including New Zealand, Germany, Japan and South-East Asia.
His work encompasses many different facets of modern and traditional Japanese-Style tattooing, which he accomplishes with grace and care. Despite this, Brendan freely acknowledges that he is something of an outsider to Irezumi, and can merely imitate the art with the highest respect to true Japanese masters of the craft, whilst incorporating elements and imagery from his own mixed Australian heritage.
Brendan cites local artists Swirly Sinatra, Lawrence Hocking, Matthew Cunnington, Shannon Naylor and Ryan Parsons as the highest influences on his creative style, work ethic, and professionalism. To these friends and peers he is eternally grateful.
Since 2010 Brendan has been privileged to work alongside the supremely talented artistic collective at Seventh Circle Studio, in Brisbane, Australia. The appointment-only basis allows artists to maintain a quiet, comfortable environment free from distraction. All tattoo work made in the studio conforms to the highest industry standards of hygiene and professionalism.
Working strictly Monday-Friday, Brendan enjoys spending weekends with his family and close friends, playing guitar, walking his pug Umlaut, and Absolut Vodka.
